This is the dream….the blog will show my resources and thoughts as how to get there. but first a little background.
My husband is currently 66 and is mildly disabled….he likes to use that so he can comfortably live life in a recliner in front of the TV so when it comes to fun and adventure….I’m a solo act.
I am 61 and employed in the corporate world in a job that is killing me…..I’m out at 65…once I’m eligible for medicare, I’m done…..however, my aim is to not take social security until I’m 70 and not touch our joint 401K until I’m 70 (husband will be 75 at the time I’m ready to take more than the minimum withdrawal).
My dream also means that I must maintain some level of fitness which I lack these days for having the life sucked out of my brain on a daily basis while firmly seated in a chair.
One more fact, my resources will be limited so I will need to be creative.
- Use the equity in my home to buy a nice but modest and updated condominium for cash….A place with fixed expenses and a place to park my husband in his recliner while I go see the world. My expenses will be about 600.00 per month….taxes, insurance and HOA plus 100.00 a month to go into a savings account for emergency home repairs.
- Use 50,000.00 that I have saved to purchase a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 24′ Starcraft travel trailer.
- Over the next 4 years, I will develop a way to earn a modest income online from my home or trailer, enough to go from place to place, provide basic living expenses and cover our health care supplements. My husband already draws social security which covers his health care, the food he eats and his automobile expenses….of course I do need to plan for if I no longer have his social security or he mine.
- I want to go places and see things then write about where I go and what I see.
